SHAI HILLS RESOURCES RESERVE/SAKOMONO RAMSAR SITE

Day 1

Morning birding will commence from shai hills,being rather small reserve it produces blue bellied roller,double toothed barbet, fllapet lark,swallow tailed bee-eater, croaking cisticola,black bellied bustard, Abyssinian roller.The reserve rocky outcrops will be able to see mocking cliff chat,stone partridge,blackap babbler, violet turaco etc, from there we set off to Sakumono ramsar site where we will be able to see migrated waders and residence birds as well.Then we birding along the way to cape coast searching for little rush warbler, eurasian wryneck,African crake and so forth.

KAKUM NATIONAL PARK

We depart for early morning and late afternoon birding at kakum national park canopy's platform, kakum one of the top tourist attraction centre in Ghana.The canopy's swing bridge which was built on mid-level of huge trees gives good view, mostly arboreal birds species often in pairs or mix flock behind the canopy's platforms.We Scan the sky for sabine"s, casin's black spinetails, rossy bee-eater, crown eagle and forest floor melodious song birds like forest robin,green tailed bristlebills, white tailed ant thrush.white tailed alethe and distinctive calls from various birds

KAKUM REGENERATION FOREST

Kakum regeneration forest edges,which provide good view of yellow browed cameroptera,red chested goshawk,grey kestrel,violet backed starling,red necked buzzard,puvel's illladopsis,black and white shrike flycacher the list goes on to see rock Pratincole,white headed  lapwing,African finfoot,white throated blue swallow,from there we will proceed to Atlantic coastal lagoon,is an open area for feeding and staging habitat for hundreds of terns,gulls, plovers,sandpipers,stilt, godwit,median egrets black herons uses her unique umbrella technics feeding.

PRA SUSHIEN FOREST

This morning we set off for pra sushien forest,it produces well serve as stop over, offers forest dwell birds such as blue throated roller,black sparrow hawk,redbill dwarf honbill, African piculet, casin's honey bird and all the forest base starlings, greenbuls,cuckoo, tinkabirds,bristleills, malimbe's and farm bush birsds will be able to see. Then en route to Ankasa with many stops to see African pygmy goose, African darter,reichenbach's sunbird, spur-wing goose and many others.


ANKASA CONSERVATION RESERVE

Ankasa forest hidden all rare birds, today we spend the day searching for,such takes regular visit hard walk to see white breasted guinea fowl,grey ground thrush,blue moustache bee-eater,yellow beaded greenbul,red fronted ant pecker,red collared lovebird and so on,it takes effort and good luck to see.The most regular birds will be able to see are chocolate backed kingfisher, rufous sided broadbill,hairy breasted barbet,forest robin and all the forest based casque hornbills malimbe's,cuckoo's, Illadopsis, parrot, weavers and others.This state rain forest reserve has enclosed massive canopy trees with high up canopy's birds species will be able to see are yellow billed turaco,western bronze naped pigeon, great blue turaco etc


ANKASA ANCIENT FOREST

This morning walk takes us to the forest swampy trails which shows casin`s flycatcher,blue billed malimbe,swamp palm bulbul,dwarf bittern,hartlaub's duck,white bellied kingfisher,white spotted fluftail, brown sunbird and upper mid level birds such as blue headed wood-dove,sharp's apalis, finches's flycatcher trush,little grey greenbul etc After dusk bring out akun's eagle owl,fraser’s eagle owl,African wood owl and nku-lengu rail.

Morning preparation begin thereby spending time studying forest edges it surrounding searching for dusky blue flycatcher,yellow browed/olive green camaroptera, blue headed crested flycatcher, kemp`s long billed and we continue birding from ATLANTIC MARITIME FOREST which gives list of birds such as ahanta francolin,black bee-eater,shining blue kingfisher, carmelite sunbird,green turaco, brown-eared wood pecker among others were aquatic forest species



ASSIN ATANDASO FOREST RESERVE

This morning we drive to assin atandanso forest reserves where we will walk through country sides road.The vegetation was dense liana tangles forest,reported birds species mostly naked faced/bristle nose barbet,violent backed hylliota, ussher's flycatcher,fire bellied woodpecker, lemon bellied crombec and many more.Note that through this walk we visit incredible rare bird nesting sites with great success yellow headed picathartes are amazing and recommend to others for an exciting experience.                     

NORTHEN SAVANNAH WOODLAND

Day 9

This morning we are going to explore northern savannah region of the country it's a long way and requires a lot of stops to see other species,thus woodland savannah dominates land scape has an open land for viewing medium sizes and large eagles, bateleur,vulture,ibis, buzzard,hawk, busterd,snake eagles,herons,storks, ,owls,finches, Flycatchers,sunbirds and so forth.


MOLE NATIONAL PARK

Mole,Ghana largest national park were birds species associated.We start the morning walk at front of the mole motel which shows pygmy sunbird,red cheeked cordon blue, senegal batis, familier chart, lavender waxbill and so on.The motel escarpment view platform where water holes below we will be able to see knob billed duck,hadada ibis,greater painted snipe,white crown robin chat,oriol warbler and many more.Afternoon safari walk we will be able to see terrestrial birds such as stone partridge,sun lark,forb's plover, helmeted guinea fowl,denhan busterd white throated francolin,Chest nut backed sparrow lark are locate at the large flat and treeless area,We roam till dusk, after wards there's opportunities to see African scops owl,greyish eagle owl,nothern white face owl long tailed/standard wing-Night jars.

MOLE WOODLAND SAVANNAH

This morning we will start from the southern boundary of mole park, birds occur are red coloured lovebird,blackap babbler,violent turaco,blacked bellied firefinch, bearded barbet, African paradise flycatcher.At noon we depart birding along the way to techiman nut plantation.The nut plantation however the habitat is good for viewing few migrated birds among several residence birds.      

TECHIMAM NUT PLANTATION

Techiman abandoned nut plantation,the scenic was not as forest or savannah the birds does not seem to care about.there are migrated birds such as willow warbler,western olivaceous Warbler,Winchat,common red start, Wood chart shrike and residents birds as well.




BOBIRI BUTTERFLIES SANCTUARY

Day 13

Birding in this forest relatively easy on dirt track road cross the forest. Birds such as black dwarf honbill, little green wood pecker,least honeyguid,red billed helmet shrike, narina's trogon and high up and mid strata level birds will be able to see are afep Pegion,red fronted parrot, red tight sparrow hawk,forest wood hoopoe,blacked winged oriol, African piculet and others.

ATIWA FOREST RANGE

Atewa forest range high hill ever green forest reach high elevation. Last day is the opportunity for adding new birds of an appropriate ending of the whole tour,we climb the hill trail elevation not steep bring out Black cap apalis blue moustached bee-eater,casin's hawk/ crown eagle, long tailed hawk,the list goes on. For birders point the forest range is home for rare nimba flycatcher, many coloured bush-shrike, lowland akalat,yellow throated cuckoo ,red-tailed leaflove,forest scrub robin it's existence by chance to see such this birds.
